the Herzogin-Elisabeth-Hospital is a foundation with legal capacity under German law.We are situated in Braunschweig, Germany.

Our orthopaedic hospital is one of the biggest in Germany and has 125 beds. The main areas of practice here are joint surgery (including joint replacements), arthroscopic surgery, orthopedic rheumatology, feet orthopaedy, orthopaedic spine surgery and sports medicine.
Chief physician Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Dieter Heller is a qualified specialist for orthopaedy and rheumatology, and especially well trained in the fields of orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, physical therapy and chirotherapy (i.e. physician administered manual therapy).

The clinic for internal medicine is a medical clinic with 55 beds treating but the entire spectrum of internal diseases. Main areas of practise are haematology/oncology (treatment of blood and cancerous diseases) and gastroenterology (treatment of intestinal diseases).

Our main areas of practice here at the surgical clinic of HEH are: breast surgery, general and abdominal surgery, as well as thyroid and vein surgery. A large part of the abdominal surgical procedures is done with keyhole surgery (aka laparascopy).
The surgical clinic has 45 planned beds. More than 2,000 surgical procedures are performed here each year.

In the field of nursing, we engage ourselves for our patients well-being with a staff of ca. 220.
We regard our patients as our guests who we grant our special attention and whose independence we support.
Besides formal qualifications we especially emphasize looking after our patientsx human needs.
We are held in high esteem both by patients and referring physicians in the Braunschweig region for the individualised care our nurses and physicians deliver.
Nursing care serves to promote or restore health, prevent disease, secure best possible quality of life, alleviate suffering and to comfort the terminally ill during their last days. This means that we aid our patients in acquiring skills towards the preservation or restoration of health, or towards accepting and coping with their illness.
